Optical attenuators are passive devices that reduce the transmitted optical power, ensuring a fixed attenuation at the wavelength of 1310 nm and 1550 nm (for SM fiber) and 850 nm (for multimode fiber)
Attenuation is obtained by using highly specific attenuation optical fibers inside the attenuator (1 dB per cm – 5 dB per cm etc), thanks to a glass doping system. The most used configuration is the “male-female” one. The attenuation values available in stock are 5, 10, 15 and 20 dB.
